The first Infrastructure Owners Forum was held in April 2017. Attended by 17 public Owners from the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, as well as the University of Calgary and City of Calgary, the initial goal of the Forum was to enable the sharing of best practices and innovations, as well as to provide a format for in-depth conversations around common challenges. The group meets bi-annually, in April & October, with sub-committee meetings for individual priorities happening in between.

While the first Owners Forum was an open discussion, subsequent Forums worked to pinpoint select strategic priorities. These include conversations centered around vendor performance, collaborative delivery models, contract terms, total cost of ownership, as well as technology and innovation.

As the years have gone by, the group has matured, with industry professionals from across the architect, engineer, and contracting community, as well as select private owners/developers now engaged.  Altogether, the group now represents over 25 Alberta Owners (public & private buyers of construction), over 50 AEC firms (vendors of construction services), and 6 partner associations.
